Sometimes kids say things that just melt our hearts. Last night I had one of those moments when you wish they would stay little forever.....
While I was helping Carson get his PJ's on and ready for bed, he asked me what "crush" meant.
"Like to smash or crush something? Or if you have a crush on someone?" I asked.
"Yeah, what does it mean if you have a crush on someone?" Carson replied.
"Well, if you have a crush on someone that means that you like them. Like I like daddy. So I have a crush on him. Why?" I asked "Do you have a crush on someone?"
Carson answered "You are the only girl I have a crush, Mom."
I cried.

Financial Peace
Shane and I are taking a class at church called Financial Peace Univ. It's a class in learning how to manage your money. Last Sunday's lesson was on teaching your children the value of money. Work hard, get money. Simple as that. They suggested that you give your child some chores to do around the house (age appropriate of course) and to pay them once a week. Teaching them to give some, save some, and spend some, if you wish. So yesterday Carson picked up all of his toys. I gave him a dollar in change. So this morning when we were getting ready for church Shane told him to go get some of his money that he earned yesterday for his offering for Sunday school. Oh boy, Carson was not having that!!! He did not want to give up any of his hard earned money. He said he was saving it to buy Lego racers. We tried to explain that it would not be all of his money that he was giving away. After a few minutes of fighting with him we decided that we would be late and needed to get going. Shane gave him 2 quarters - which is all we could find at the last minute and rushed out the door. When we got back after church Carson pulled the 2 quarters back out of his pocket. His story was that he gave them to his teacher and she gave him 2 quarters back. And that now he had 2 more quarters for his Lego racers fund. Well, I guess Carson has the concept of saving your money for what you want. It's the giving that he has a problem with. Don't we all sometimes...
Shane and I are enjoying the class so far. It's amazing to look at where all your money goes every month. Today's lesson was how every dollar you earn should have a name on it before the month begins....in other words budget, budget, budget. With a husband as a CPA, I'm learning lot, in hopes to someday teach Carson the same.

Potatoes and Bubble Wrap
I would have to admit that Carson and I did not do much today. Shane work as usual. When he got home he was hungry and wanted to stay home. I was in favor of going out to eat but that was not going to happen. So I thought I would prepare a good meal for once. Don't get me wrong, I can cook- when I want to. But this time of year when Shane works late every night, cooking doesn't work out so well. One, because Shane refuses to eat leftovers and two, Carson is hungry when we get home at 5:30. I decided I was going to make meatloaf and potatoes. Real potatoes. Not instant. (my mom is very proud of me right now!) Carson always asks for potatoes like Grandma has. And when he heard I was making them he wanted to help of course. He grabbed my potato peeler and thought he was going to peel the potatoes. I didn't think it was very safe nor did I think he would last. I thought he would be long sick of it after one, if that. Carson actually peeled 5 potatoes for me! It was not a speedy progress by any means. He was pretty excited then he reached for the last one.
So we all enjoyed supper tonight. I'm not sure what Carson had more of, potatoes or butter!!!!!
After supper Shane decided to hang my new wood blinds that FINALLY came this week for our bedroom. Carson discovered the bubble wrap that came out of the boxes. First he tried running and jumping on it but that was not loud enough. So then Shane came up with the idea to wrap him in it and Shane would roll him on the floor to pop it. Great idea Dad! Now all the bubble wrap is popped and it's time for someone to go to bed.....
